Exactly, Verizon and Sprint are CDMA carriers and ATT and T-mobile are GSM carriers. So there would be no way to activate an IPhone on Verizon.

In fact Verizon will not activate any phone where the ESN is not in their system. They used to do this up until last year sometime. When the Treo 650 first came out only on Sprint, I hacked it and was able to have Verizon activate it. They soon wised up and put an end to that.

The iphone as sold by Apple/ATT is overrated because Apple have crippled it by leaving out so many features and lettign ATT have it exclusively meaning you have to be on the the most expensive network with the most dropped calls (at least in LA) with the worst customer service.

The unlocking of the phone and more importantly, the previous hacks that allow you to install 3rd party apps are really promissing.

There is no denying the iPhone hardware is fricking cool. Unfortunately there's no non-fanboy denying the software is seriously incomplete. If it could sync with Exchange and run the types of apps win mobile or symbian can run, then it really truly could be a fantastic and powerful device. As it is out of the box, it's a very cool looking, but expensive toy.

The Apple iPhone does everything it was advertised to do.

And since this is my first Apple product EVER (and I started with a Commodore VIC-20 with a cassette drive back in the early 80's), you could HARDLY call me a fan-boy.
