Default iPhone unlocked: AT&T loses iPhone exclusivity

The iPhoneSIMfree.com team called us up to prove their claim that they cracked Apple's iPhone SIM lock system, and prove it they did. (No, we don't have a copy of the unlock software, so don't even ask us, ok?) The six-man team has been working non-stop since launch day, and they're officially the first to break Apple's SIM locks on the iPhone. It's done. Seriously. They wouldn't tell us when and how they would release it to the public, but you can certainly bet that they'll try to make a buck on their solution (and rightly so). We can hardly believe the iPhone's finally been cracked. No, scratch that -- we just can't believe it took this long.

good deal. AT&T is the worst service of all the providers out there. hopefully this goes public soon and people can purchase the software so they can be released from that redicoulous contract and awful service.

i would think so but i think to make internet would you would have to have some sort of internet plan attached, it most likely wont be released to the public for a while though and i imagine they will encounter some legal problems if/when they try to

When the phone is unlocked -anyone- with a SIM card from their carrier can use it provided the band in their respective territory works. iPhone's a global phone (Japan might be the one exception) so yes, it will work. I've made a habit of getting unlocked phones from overseas as the NA choices for mobiles has, and always will, suck.

    NOT SO
    you need a GSM network

Sprint and Nextel both used SIMs but the Iphone will not work Sprint is CDMA while Nextel is IDEN technology.

The Iphone will work on ATT/Cingular or T Mobile ONLY in the states.
Verizon is also CDMA so you're out of luck Sir W but the moto m9 came out a few days ago may want to take a look at that
\Aslo T Mobile is coming out with the "curve" within the next 10 days also a worthy opponent.

I have no problem with my iPhone or AT&T's service.

Guess I am the only one.
