Thanks for the links. I had picked up the news from highdefdigest earlier.

Definately isn't going to be a consistent sale price, though. The A3 (which still stands as the CURRENT entry level player) hasn't dropped at all, so this is most definately a clearance of excess stock. (Just how much excess, who knows.) It sounds like the $99 will be for a limited time and in limited locations, too.

Why doesn't Toshiba just give the things away? That's really the only step left. And it STILL isn't going to help the format when, in the matter of six weeks, Cars, Ratatoille, Die Hard, Simpsons and Superbad won't play on them, leaving to nothing more than angry consumers.

Both camps have handled themselves very poorly in this matter - the only one with a smile is Microsoft, who sees a potential stalemate as a wide open path to HT downloads.

Wait a minute . . . you were able to bring an HDTV with you, but not your PS3? Are you insane??

I couldn't make this crap up if I tried.

Last night, the wife and I watched "We Are Marshall", our first HD DVD from Netflix. Absolute loved it, by the way. (I don't know why Netflix didn't send us the Blu-ray version, as I have it sent to my #1 preference, perhaps it wasn't available.)

So at the 1:35:23 mark, the movie freezes, and then "Error 408bc504, can't play disc." A hard reset, and returned to the same place, crossed our fingers and it played through.

Looks like another phone call to Toshiba on Monday.

Not to brag or anything, but last night I saw THE HOST on my PS3/BRD and it was flawless!!!

This format war is getting very interesting. It kind of boggles my mind that a crappy movie like Transformers can sway people to buy an HD-DVD player...
