Also to note with Laptops if you want the best performance go with Intel Core 2 Duo laptops. If you want battery life and pretty decent speed go with Turion x2. I purchased a customer made compaq laptop with only 512mb memory but a 160gb hard drive. After I received the laptop I went to Fry's and bought 2 gigs of memory for $139 and installed it myself. Simple screw pop out old chip install the 2 new chips and there u go.

You can get a Dell XPS 1210 with integrated broadband wireless acrd with the option for Sprint, Cingular, or Verizon service.

I work for Dell and it is one of our more popular systems!

why pay 2-300 for the aircard if you can get for almost free from Sprint Verizon or Cingular? The Aricards you get can be used on several different machines.

I don't know if you want to be wireless anywhere. If you are just going to use hot spots like Starbucks (I think they are still free, but not sure), any laptop with wifi will work. I don't think you need the most powerful. I would suggest the best battery life.

Call CD, he'll steer you in the right direction.

I looked around a little more and this looks VERY cool. Verizon is 59.99 a month for access to the broadband network and I can get a decent Toshiba with a dual core processor for around $800. I might be logging in soon from Toyota Training Center or Yosemite! w00t!!

Try to get it with 1x1GB chip and consider adding a 2nd 1GB chip aftermarket. With the software you use for LGK, you will probably want that extra RAM. But that sounds like a nice setup. I like Toshiba laptops.
And thats how you get ants!

Also get as large a hard drive as possible, you may think an external drive will do the trick but when you are on the road you will wish you had a larger drive.

Here is a scorching deal on a laptop but the drive is only 80 gigs. Still, the price is pretty damn low.

I have a 60G drive on my laptop. I filled it up once and had to clean it off. It took about 1.5 years to fill it. I now keep an external drive at home. I use it for a mirror image as well as storing my large audio files and videos. 80G shoud get you by for a year or so. It is easy and not expensive to add an external drive later if you need to.

I am logged in right now from the back yard on the new laptop!! This rules!! I got the Toshiba with 80 gigs . Since it only has 256k memory I picked up 2 gigs from Fry's for only $80 so that should help. I also picked up a 160 gig usb external seagate drive for only $50. I'm a sucker for sales!

This thing seems pretty cool, I have to get some anti virus software quick. They had Norton at Fry's for free after a 50 dollar rebate so maybe I'll go that route.

I am still tempted to get the 60 dollar Verizon plan so I can have total freedom. I'll see how this goes for now and weigh the advantages.

Thanks for all the help! I think I did well getting this puppy for a great price. The wifi works great!
