If you feel like reading about every kind of A/V equipment know to mankind check this out:

We are the Samurai, the warrior elite who protect and serve. Armed and armored from head to toe, masters of our personal weapons and bound by Honor, Duty, Loyalty, and Honesty. We walk the long path into the places society would prefer forgotten, and chase those demons that most would run from screaming in fear. We are the Samurai.

As far as the refresh rates go on the lcds, I'm with CD. Most people I know have turned it off. I've never really had a problem with the picture not refreshing fast enough.

edit: I still STRONGLY recommend the Panny or Samsung over the Sharp. The picture is better & I believe the build quality is better as well (IMHO). My Sharp has had problems after just a couple years, and I've known others who have had problems Sharps. When it comes to calibration, you can borrow my Digital Video Essentials disk.
    Thanks!

Well, here's what happened. Totally blown away by the 52" screen. Gotta have it. Gonna look around some more for the best deal. We're going to wind up getting a Home Theater system and Blu-Ray player so the price just about doubled.

It's easy to do with a calibration DVD.

The only thing about this that I don't like is NO IR REMOTE! That is why I ended up with a stand alone.

It's more than that. It's about making your whites so that you can see shadows and creases. It's about making the blacks not so splotchy. It will take you through a series of tests to make sure that your color setting are the best that they can be.

It you are getting a BR player that sends a signal out through HDMI then you are getting as true of a picture as you can from the source. The test are quick and easy.

    Other calibration DVD's

    Digital Video Essentials
    Avia Guide to Home Theater
    THX Optimizer

Some of the tests will include sound as well to get the most from your speakers.

There are also BR disk calibrators for a more truer HD format.
