do NOT let them sell you on cables!
do NOT let them sell you on cables!
Especially when it comes to cables that carry a digital signal. Digital is digital. You either get the signal or you don't. It's not like the days of analog when the cables did make a bit of a quality difference. HDMI cables - fiber optic cables... buy the cheapest ones you can find.

Geez..this thread has had around 500 views. Could all the Kings games being cablecast in HD have anything to do with it, y'think??? heh!
Heck, that's the main reason I'm getting one.
Pioneer Elite >>>> Panasonic and its not even close. A properly calibrated Elite looks just sick.
On the calibration side, the Pioneer's have real good RS232 controls, so with the right software, they can be calibrated in just a few minutes.
As for Plasmas, its my understanding that manufacturing is going to go away, so they won't be around for much longer.
And thats how you get ants!
I have had a Sony Bravia KDL-52W4100 since the first of the year and LOVE it. It was part of a compensation deal from Sony because my old 60" LCD projection set crapped out prematurely.
One pretty cool thing about this TV is it automatically adjusts the screen brightness when it senses stray light or glare hitting the screen. During the late afternoon the set gets nailed with about 3 hours of direct/indirect sunlight and I've yet to have glare problems.
The black is spot on as well as the color.
Part of the "white glove" service Sony gave me on the exchange was calibration of the unit which was done by a Sony Tech the day they swapped units. What a HUGE difference that made.
Like someone mentioned in a previous post, I have the 120hz shut off when watching normal TV and turn it on when watching Hockey/Football. It looks odd while watching normal TV.

Its much cheaper via a big box store or purchased online somewhere other than Sony Style.
