LCD HDTV help needed, please

Gonna buy one. About 46" minimum size. 120hz refresh preferred. 1080P.

Any recommendations? These threads get removed every few months so here's the latest one!

From the research I've done plasma isn't something I want to play around with. Just a good, reliable LCD TV with the best picture. Will be running the sound through a receiver so that isn't an issue.

I've seen positive reviews for the Sharp Aquos LC46D85U.

sharp is okay...look into a sony or samsung for the best imho...

Sony and Samsung have very good reviews from what I've read.

I think they actually make the parts for the low-end LCD HDTV brands. Sub-quality to their name brand, of course. That's what I want to avoid. So, Sony and Samsung are in the running.

this is very true...led tv's are sick! but still a lot of money...and 120 is awesome! i can't see a difference between 120 and 240 though...for reviews check out cnet.com

Yes, I have been reading cnet's reviews as well as Best Buy customer reviews.

Prices for LCD TV's are dropping dramatically because of LED TV. Stay with Sony, Sharp, Samsung, Panasonic, Mitsubishi, Toishiba or LG

You can get a good Toshiba 46" 1080p 120Hz for $999 at Best Buy right now.

Thanks. LED technology is fairly new so I'm probably going to avoid it..also costs a lot more.

Plasma seems to have improved a lot since the last research I did back in January of 2008: Flat-panel TVs: plasma, LCD, and how they compare ....hmmmm. Interesting. The life span of plasma is now the same as LCD.

Just bought a new Sony KDL-46z5100 for my GF's mother for $1476 from Audio & Video Center in Santa Monica. It's a 240Hz model. The 120Hz (KDL-46w5100) model is excellent as well and has most of the same features as the 240hz unit. The price difference was not enough to discourage us from buying the more expensive unit. Right now the new Sony's are a little bit better deal than the Samsungs for very much equal picture quality. Good luck in your search.

I've owned a Samsung 4671 LCD almost 2 years now and it is an amazing TV. The picture is astonishing, colors bright, the only downside is the sound seems a little low or its just me. When i first pulled it out of the box i got the sense that I'm in the movie at first, so did everyone else that saw the TV for the first time but once your eyes get used to it that feeling goes away. Sports in HD are sick!..i paid about 3 grand for it now its 1200bux.

No Picture in Picture but I never use it anyway.

Bummer. No analog audio output so I'd have to buy a new Home Theater system..there's another $300 or so......
