Something to check on as well is 911 service. Not sure how that works with MagicJack, but its important to keep in mind.

Cox is $5 a month for an extra line. I had a jack put into my house 2 years ago and I don't recall a service charge

I would try out the 30 day trail because they offered me a deal of $60 for 5 years service. To purchase the magic jack and year service would normally cost $40.

I don't think Magic Jack offers 911 services but since he's planning to use this as a second line I think he has other means of getting emergency help.

That is correct.....As for buying it ASAP-i would prefer to get my new phone # sooner rather then later for bus purposes.

Good Call....but for 40 bucks its worth it...hell if it lasts 6 months Im still ahead of the game.

On that same note, I was having some issues with the set up and used the online chat tool on magicjack.com and they got it worked out within about 2 minutes. Great Customer Service!

Sounds like you're pleased with it so far. And I'm glad to hear the customer service has been decent.

I had heard/seen a lot of complaints about it and their service. But from a lot of what I read, it seemed like the majority of complaints were coming from people who would think the CD/DVD tray was a drink holder...

Another thing you can try is Google Voice. They give you a new number for everyone to call in and you can set up your account to have all of your phones ring when someone calls. Also you can use it to prescreen calls before you answer.

Wasn't that GrandCentral? I signed up for that years ago but never really used it.
