I know that everyone has gone ga-ga over the fact that the Wii can play old console games (as referenced here). And Oglethorpe pointed out at the end of the thread that if you want to play games on your computer, you can get an emulator.
I recently "dusted" off my MAME32 from my computer and started playing the different games I had downloaded, and I had forgotten just how good some of these games were.
For me, I first downloaded the WWF arcade games, WWF Superstars and WWF Wrestlefest. I loved playing those games in the arcade, and pumped plenty of quarters into. I recently played both games to their completion, something that would've cost me a small fortune.
I also downloaded Cyberball, which was a robot football game. That game was the first football videogame game I ever played, and it was hard as hell to play in the arcade. It had six "periods", after each you would have to put in a quarter. So one game would cost you $1.50. But then you were given the opportunity to "upgrade" your robots if they were breaking down, which would invariably happen. And that would occur every break too. That would be another $1.25. So, you could easily drop $3 playing one game all the way through. Now, it's free.
But my favorite game that I have has to be Hit The Ice. This game is really cool, because it's a 2-on-2 hockey game, much like NBA Jam. The action is furious, and I've grown to really appreciate this game as much as my old Genesis NHL '94 game for replayability. I strongly recommend downloading this gem, which never really caught on in the arcades.
