Ok all you Mac bashers, I've had enough of you. Most of you should probably already know that I'm versed in both, and being that I gave RR the most sensible options to FIX what he had.

Mac's aren't impervious to Viruses, but its really tough for things to be able to infect your computer when the computer requires that you type your password before installing ANYTHING.

And I still run windows, I just do it under parallels on this computer, and I only run it when I have to access a windows network.

Lets see the reasons why RR should use a Mac:

He spends a lot of time on the net.
He spends a lot of time playing with his photos.
    Music?
Needs a terminal application to be able to access the server?

Um, what OS comes with ALL OF THOSE TOOLS right out of the box?

At this point RR, I'd suggest backing up your data off the machine and reloading it. Yes this is a huge pain in the ass, but if this "SIMPLE TROJAN" that your computer got infected with hasn't been cleaned using any of the tools you've tried already, its going to keep rearing its ugly head until you actually do.

There's a saying out there "I have no problem with God, it's his fanclub I can't stand", I think the same thing can be said about Mac users and Macs; I have no problem with Macs, it's their users I hate.

RR genuinely asked for help and the various Mac users come in a simply say "get a Mac" or parade about how glorious Macs are, he didn't ask for a sales pitch or your propaganda. If you're not going to help, go the **** away.

edit: RR, try this http://www.microsoft.com/security/ma.../families.mspx which leads here http://www.microsoft.com/security/ma...e/default.mspx

I truly wasn't trying to be combative, I was just trying to point out that Macs do have their problems, which a wide portion of the user base refuses to admit. I like Macs, I'm writing this from a 17" Powerbook right now. I think it is a great operating system, it just is a annoyance to me when people declare it 100% flawless.

Sorry to hear about your cousin, I hope that she is OK.

This looks like a pretty excellent example:

Where does that say Macs are 100% flawless? If anything he said desktops dont disappear on Macs, is that true? I have no idea but I can say something similar but it doesnt mean that Macs are 100% flawless.
