Default New 3D TV - Questions

I just picked up a new TV that supports 3D. There are VERY FEW selections on my On Demand which use this. Should I now be looking at picking up a Blu-Ray player to take full advantage of this?

I feel like I'm missing something here.

Is there even that much 3D content out there on the market? Can someone explain this to me so I'm not throwing my money away.

    Thank you

I think 3D has been a bit of a dud as far as the market goes. There were big hopes that 3D would drive another wave of flat screen purchases, but it didn't end up that way. Lack of content is part of it. Also, the glasses are different for each brand and in some cases are hard to find and expensive. My folks have one that they use with DirecTV and it works pretty well. They get two channels, of which one is ESPN 3D and the other is a variety channel with concerts and scenic footage. There is a movie channel too but it has an extra charge. On ESPN 3D the sports are mostly extreme sports or college football and basketball, of which some are rebroadcasts. Overall, there is not much compelling to watch.

The good news is that the 3D TVs out there now are among the best in picture quality for regular HD. So it's likely you have a great TV. If you want something to watch in 3D you're best choice is BluRay Disc, just make sure your player is compatible.

I've noticed with my 3D and my dads 3D tv's that the picture appears deeper, even with standard picture content.

I have a 3d tv myself, wasnt looking for one but ended up with a great deal.. I must say that i love it and so does my wife, she now wants to go movie shopping. I think the reason its not doing so well is that most think its like the 3d at the movies with the cheap glasses, its not. As for the 3d blueray player, all you need is a playstation 3, thats what i use.
