So if someone is watching Slingplayer on the laptop, you cannot watch it on the wired PC or cellphone.

Overall this is one of the greatest inventions for watching TV. If you want more information here is the link: http://us.slingmedia.com/page/home

I have been using this since last year to watch all the Kings games when the wife drags me out of the house. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Sorry, but doesn't the cable have to connect to your wife's cable box?

Not really, it just depends on what channels you want to watch. If you want to watch all your cable box channels then yes you need to put the Sling box in between your cablebox and PC. If you just want to watch the basic channels available w/o the box like I do, then you just need to plug the cable from the wall into the Slingbox. If you go to the Slingbox site it will show all the different hookup diagrams.

When you say basic channels, did you mean only a certain channels you selected to watch? Or the basic channels package from the cable distributor?

By basic channels I meant 1-99 usually what the cable co. provides to the customers without a cable box. Straight from the cable into your TV, basic cable channels.

Hope that helps to clear things up.
