I can't. I love Macs, but they are overpriced. My Powerbook has been great, but it's a little outdated. I went to compare, and couldn't justify the extra money. I went with a Sony with Blu-Ray, 4 gigs of ram, same processor speed, and the same size screen.Quote:

One thing I am noticing in this thread is you guys are comparing performance of a 32-bit to Apple programs. Remember in the OP he mentioned Windows 7 64-bit edition. There is a world of difference between 32 and 64 bit windows OS. Plus Windows 7 is a lot faster than Windows XP or Windows 2000, (anything is faster than Vista). Not too mention ever since Leopard Mac OS has been 64-bit so you are really comparing a 64-bit to a 32-bit OS.Quote:

PC's are just like life. You get out what you put in. You put **** in the PC, you get **** out of it. Problem is, most users put **** in and get upset when they get **** out.
Macs are a closed system, you're not allowed to put anything in that's not approved. This can be a good thing as it prevents people from putting **** in their machine.

I completely understand what you are saying, Lososaurus. I'm just trying to figure out if the iMac is really worth the extra $600-$1000. With all the 'Macs are superior' folks out there I'd figure SOMEBODY would come up with something! So far nobody has really come up with a '**** yeah I'm going to go down to Apple right now and buy it" answer.
And for the record, I am not against Apple at all. I consider my iPhone one of the best technology purchases I have ever made. Even better than my Commodore Vic-20 with tape cassette drive which started me down this horrible computer path I still travel today. Ah, those were the days. Typing hundreds of lines of hexadecimal machine language code from Byte magazine just to play Pitfall.
