I changed the HD in my G3 ibook once, and I think I had to unscrew about 25 or so screws just to access the HD. Laptop was going back to Apple to get the screen fixed, but I had already broke the HD, so I had to replace the HD myself before sending it to APple, or else I would have had to pay to get the video fixed.

    I imagine the G4 ibooks are the same pain in the ass to upgrade. The Macbook designs made it much easier to work with.

    I concur with the previous two posters. Once you go Mac you never go back.

    That's what they should center their marketing campaign around, not the lame Mac vs PC commercials that have made me loathe Justin Long.

    To bad this isn't always the case. I used Mac's at my last 3 jobs and I still haven't made the change. I didn't see the value in them like you do. Although I didn't stay with Microsoft either. I choose not to give my money to Bill which in fact buying a Mac is still giving money to Bill Gates since he has around 20% stake in apple's stock. I went to Linux and I will never look back on that move. All software is free for me and upgrading my OS to the latest version requires a single click and my password and an Internet connection, and the system does the rest. If I want to upgrade my system I just pull the hard drive out and put it in my new computer and run the X-window reconfigure utility and bam, I am done upgrading my system. Oh yea no special hardware needed.

    So far so good. I've pretty much set up my wife's MacBook Pro and my iMac 24". The simplicity is nice, although the mouse and keyboard are kind of awkward. Its so tiny!! I'm used to my ergonomic, gargantuan keyboard.

    It does look pretty on the desk. And one wire. Thats nice too.

    If you can't get past the keyboard (I needed an ergonomic keyboard), you can snag this from Microsoft:

    [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FBH35E/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&seller=]Amazon.com: Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop for Mac-Silver ( 65U-00001 ): Electronics[/ame]

    $25 shipped. Keyboard and Mouse included.

    I use it at the office and home and it works great. Has all the mac keys as well.

    So seriously, I don't have to run an antivirus on a MAC???

    That goes against every single thing I have ever learned about computing in the modern age.

    Currently yes you don't need Anti Virus software on a Mac but in the future as Mac gets more and more popular you will run into the same problems that windows faces now. But for now you are safe without it.
