Thread: old phone/new battery

I have been using Sidekick3 for a few years now. just last week the battery gave out all of a sudden. little warning sign over the last month was that it wouldn't stay powered barely all day as it used to be that I didn't have to charge it up everyday.

fast forward, getting the phone today that I ordered online (only way to get it), I plugged the charger in and the light would come on, then fade away. is this normal? should I worry after 8 hours normal charge time that the battery won't power up?

the battery is a Sharp PB-BL11. got it from EMTC Inc for $15. free shipping. too good to be true, maybe. most other sites sell it for almost twice as much.

Do you still have the sidekick or new phone... what is the new phone if you have one? I know that on some blackberry's the light will do that while charging.

still have the SK3. with the old/dead battery, the charger light would stay on and the phone's screen would say that the battery needs a few minutes of charging before using. on the new battery, the screen stayed blank.

I've fired an email to EMTC, so I'm awaiting the response.

getting a free replacement in the mail soon. we'll see how that one goes.

ok, update here. the "new" battery that I got through Amazon had a charge time of 2 minutes. I kept replugging the charger over a week and got nothing much to power up the phone with. from what I've read, apparently they stopped making the batteries for SideKick3 some years ago. whatever they have available on the market had to have some shelf life of that time, which could make the batteries too old to be used for the first time?

anyway, **** it. I went and accepted the upgrade offer from TMobile and got the Nokia Nuron 5260 for $20. it arrived the other day so since then I have been married to it. imagine going from using the old skool flip phone to a nice smartphone that is 10000000x's better.

now, I still wonder why I waited so long.
