The optimum upgrade

TV - Sharp Aquos 52" 1080p 120 Hz
Laptop - HP DV6 series
Phone - Blackberry Tour

I have bought a few of the Aquos TVs for clients, and they look fantastic! The one thing I would recommend is having your tv calibrated after purchase. Its worth every penny.

THe DV6 series laptops are pretty nice, and I also have a few clients that have purchased them recently. Right now HP Laptops > Dell Laptops

BB Tour is a nice phone. PLenty of features, and they are on Verizon's network.

Straightforward and not an apple product in the bunch.

Putting another rec in for the panasonic viera plasma. We got a 42" 3-4 yrs ago. Love it & we, too, prefer it to LCD. My parents just got a 55" samsung led though and they looove it although they didn't really research their purchase like we did.

Bogey, I'll be at the LGK midnight skate if you have any questions about that specific plasma. Televisions are like artwork. Everyone has their own preference. What looks like ass to you might look great to someone else, and vice versa. When you are in a store looking at tellys, make sure you change the setting from Vivid to something more normal. This gives you a much more accurate idea of what the picture will look like.

Regarding computers, do yo have any tech-savvy friends? They could help you build one helluva desktop PC for much less than a pre-packaged Dell or similar POS. Not sure about editing on notebooks. My wife and I have 2 macbooks and I wouldn't even dare try to capture HD video or edit on them...

You can edit fine on a macbook...I did my last 2 videos using one. All you need is plenty of ram and hard drive space(external drive ).

Any of the new iMacs would do you just fine too, although you said your looking at a grand to spend so the $1199 price would go over.

This is the best deal out there.
