    Default PC Windows 7 HELP!!!!

For the last few weeks I have been getting the blue screen of death on my PC. I have removed a few software items I thought might have been causing the issue, and restored the system to an earlier date. This seems to fix it for a little while, but then it just crashes out again.

Other symptoms, is that the unit just shuts off suddenly without any blue screen or warning. Sometimes it just looks like a loss of video, because the screen is blank but the power light is still on. Sometimes it just shuts off completely.

My thoughts were that is could be a video card problem (integrated MB card), or a power supply problem. Any thoughts to trouble shooting it, or am i doomed to just do a full system restore to factory resets?

    Thanks!

The next time it occurs, write down the stuff under "Technical Information" on the blue screen. Knowing those long numbers that start with "0x" can help troubleshoot the problem. Once you have that, I'd suggest posting over at Super User. I almost always get fast and accurate answers on the Stack Exchange sites.

God if you're on an integrated video card i have one you can buy for 25 bucks. But ya blue screens of death might be a hardware issue.

If system reboots before you can write down the technical stuff, you can set an option to not restart automatically in case of failure. Start-Right click Computer-Properties-advanced system settings. Then under startup and recover, click settings and un check Automatically restart. This way the BSOD stays until you manually reboot. But the first thing I would do is update the video card drivers, and check for updated drivers for the rest of your system.

You could have faulty memory too. A stick could have gone out.

Honestly I've never had a BSOD due to a video card. BSOD has always been a memory or HDD issue when I've come across them.

Either that or it's over heating, try blowing out the dust, do it outside, you will be amazed at how much crap builds up in a computer.

OMG, this. I'd unhook my PCs once a year and blow them out whether they needed it or not...and they ALWAYS needed it.

I've gotta boot mine up for the first time in MONTHS pretty quick. All my taxes are on there and I'll need to transfer last year's return to my iMac before I start on this year's. Aside from that, this Mac has been goddamned bulletproof in the three months since I bought it. Wish I'd gone this way a lot sooner.
Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Bullets are cheap. Life is priceless.
