The you could swim across the bay. Parking is going to be horrible down there. You will need to go down there real early to get a good spot. I might be able to go down this year. I wanted to make the trip last year but I could not swing it.

This is the place to watch the Red Bull air races:

Monument Valley is just a bit more remote than San Diego, though...

Alright. My schedule for May won't be known until the 21st, now. But the good news is that I'm bidding the #5 position out of 37 for vacation/training lines (flying trips for other people during their vacations and training events), which pretty much means I'll be able to get almost whatever I want, schedule wise.
So I'm planning on going down for sure. I'll be heading down VERY early in the morning on the 3rd of May. I plan on staking out a spot on the West side of the bay (across from the pay viewing stands)...that is, depending upon how my location scouting goes on Monday afternoon when I'm in SAN for work.
ValleyFan (unless his plans have changed) will be riding shotgun in my truck. Anyone else who's wanting to go down with me is welcome to one of the back seats.
Let me know.

It looks like I will be going down the night before and staying at my cousin's house. We are going to stay in the stands tho. I will let you know if anything changes.
Still two seats open in my truck going down. Leaving approx 4:30am on Saturday, May 3 from the Starbucks off the 5 freeway in Burbank.
Looks like it is a more popular event this year than last. Tickets for the South Embarcadero viewing area are completely sold out for both days. I'm told there are just a few more available for the North Embarcadero viewing area.
Get them now if you haven't already.

I am going down Friday night so I can get there early on Saturday morning. My cousin said that he already bought some tickets, but I do not know if that means we are sitting on grandstands or we just have tickets for general seating. It will be bitchen either way.
