pop3 or imap4?
what is the difference between those two?
I have been trying to set up my TMo email account on my Nuron. their tech support agent had been losing a few neurons in her head as she doesn't know what the incoming or outgoing mail server addresses should be, but that's another story.
IMAP mirrors your email between the server and the computer.
POP downloads your email from he server to your computer.
Using IMAP. I download my gmail to my macbook. When I make changes like starring something, moving it to a folder, or marking it read, those changes are synchronized back to the gmail server and I can see the changes in the browser interface.
Using POP, the changes would not be evident as the data is not sync'd back to the server.

I found out that the email account I wanted to put on my new phone would work only on the Sidekicks, which is ****in bogus and I lost everything there.
that seems a bit odd. is this according to the t-mobile reps?

I was able to download some contents off the SK through the TMo site onto my PC while my SK was dead and unusable. I was told that I need another SK to view the stuff in those files. I dunno about that, but I am sure there is a way. they're extensions .CSV and .VCF
VCF's are vCard Files. They are contacts that you can re-import onto your phone.
CSV's are Comma Seperated Value files. You should be able to drag them into notepad and see what they are.
For the Nuron i would use gmail or yahoo or whatever your primary email is. Make sure it is imap.
hopefully you didnt pay too much for it, it looks like a run on the mill featurephone. not really a smartphone at all.
the Nuron is a free upgrade to the SK through TMo.
I've done the notepad option before. it has been awhile. will look into it. thanks.
no problem, sometimes word can be faster.
