    Default Printer Problem....HELP!!!

First; thanks for clicking on this stupid thread.

I have an Epson Stylus Photo R200 printer that does printable CDs ans DVDs, as well as photo and letter work. It has worked flawlessly for several years until I recently ran out of black ink (6 cartridge system), replaced the catrtidge twice and am still getting no response. Tried all help screens, etc. Can't even print a test pattern now nor a cartridge clean/charge.

Anyone have some input? Please let me know.

BTW, the catridges I put in are from a company I have used about a dozen times and the last one I used was from the same batch, only about 6 months ago.

a few things I thought of right off the bat.. check all connections and make sure everything is plugged in and connected... and make sure the tape strip is off the cartridge...
I know these are the dumb answers..but you never know.. :/

My mom has an Epson and sometimes that plastic coating over the hole doesn't always get punctured. Not sure if your printer has the same setup. She has a 4 cartridge system and its not a fancy printer, just a regular printer/scanner/copier deal.

But I've noticed that the plastic doesn't always puncture and I have to seat it a few more times.

It makes me love my Canon printer.

I have the same exact printer at home. It's garbage. I need to throw it away... thanks for the reminder.

It should have an LCD display on the printer itself that usually tells you what the problem is. Follow those instructions and try to print directly from the printer. They have some sort of diagnostics page you can print from the printer itself... not the computer.

If the printer prints okay from itself, then you need to reinstall the drivers on the computer.

If all else fails, try to get Epson support to help you. I doubt it's still supported but it's worth a shot.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I hate printers. Which is why I don't use one at home.

Willing to bet its a clogged printhead. Good luck getting it repaired. You are better off going to buy a new printer.
