"We haven't made any announcements on pricing changes regarding PS3," stated a SCEA spokesman. Looks like you'll have to save up your pennies for quite a bit longer, kids. It's not coming down in price anytime soon.
This could al change at E3, however. All it says is that haven't made an annoucement. I don't get the "quite a bit longer" tagged onto that.
It's certainly interesting that the expected price drop comes the day after Sony's official E3 press conference, which will be at 11AM PST on July 11th. I'll guess we'll know right afterwards.
It's official. $499.99 for the 60GB PS3 and $599.99 for 80GB PS3. There is no mention if the "new" 60GB is just the 20GB model with a larger hard drive. If both the 60 and the 80 are identical (including memory card slots and WiFi) with exception to their respective storage capacity, it makes Sony's pricing of the 80GB model curious.

And don't forget the PS 3 is eligible for the 5 free Blu-ray movies deal!

According to this article, MotorStorm is included with the 80gb.

I don't see Sony at this point spending the resource to retool and release newer models with old specs, so I fully expect the 60GB units to be the same as we have now, with the 80GB being a new response to the Elite. I guess if someone was going to buy Motostorm anyway, then maybe the extra $40 is worth the extra 20GB.
You're right . . . this is designed to push the 60GB.
