for a long time the ps3 was considered the best blu ray player out there.. not sure if that is true today but for the price point/things you can do with it/ability to download updates the ps3 is definitely the way to go

Another vote for the PS3. Yesterday I was streaming the Kings radio feed though it (with the internet browser) so I could listen to Nick and Daryl instead of the Ducks announcers.
We now have 3 different standalones. None cost more than C$150. No need for a PS3 for us. Didn't hurt that they were on sale for C$99 on Boxing Day up here (Samsung 1600). :)
I ended up getting a PS3 it is just more fun than a standalone Blue Ray player. That and I can stream HD movies form NetFlix and loving it. Also setting up my linux media server also makes it even more useful. I have all my DVD's ripped and housed on my Server where now I can stream them right to my TV.and I don't have to fumble through 450+ DVD's and Blue Ray discs to find a movie to watch.
