My 3G iPhone has been fine
I liked the i phone but didn't like the ATT coverage. I live in Cherry Valley and coverage was "spotty" but I couldn't get or receive calls in my house. ATT's response to this complaint was that maybe if I went outside to make calls everything would be ok! Needless to say I immediately went back to Verizon and am very happy with my Droid.
I don't have any problems with calls. Around Christmas time, my 3G was really slow and oftentimes nonfunction in the area around my house but perfectly fine at the in-laws. We had them give us a discount on the bill for the one week period of crap service, they reset my phone and it's been fine afterwards. I have the newest 3GS version.
Deuce is correct with 3G you can do both.
Quizx in a perfect world ATT would allow the user to be able select whether they use 2G(edge) or 3G. Att removes this option from most if not all of their phones. You are 3G first, no matter how bad the signal gets. It won't switch until there is ZERO 3G coverage
I have a 3g iPhone and have not had problems with calls. Sending and receiving data, OTOH, has been spotty. When I'm home using WiFi, it's fine, but when I have to use the 3G, it's been really slow.
I think you guys are misunderstanding what I'm saying. Since 3G is used for voice and data, my understanding was that you can't use 3G AND GSM at the same time for voice. It's either one or another. For instance, if my iPhone is not within range of 3G coverage and I have NOTHING for data services, at that point I'll be making use of GSM for voice and nada for data.
Would I be correct assuming that?
