Thread: Question AT&T Wireless / iPhone users

Okay,

So my wife, my brother, a few of his buddies, my buddy and wife, and myself all have iPhones. Lately we've all had problems with the service. The wife and I had a whole day where our phones didn't ring... went straight to voice mail. People actually got worried. We've had dropped calls, slllloooowwww 3G speeds, and more straight to voice mail issues. My friend's iPhone just DIED as if the battery drained out last night while it was half way charged. I plugged it in my wall charger and let it sit for twenty minutes before I could start it again.

What gives? My buddy's convinced that the latest Apple OS patch is semi-bricking our phones so we buy the new ones come June. He's a major conspiracy theorist so it's not surprising for him to think that... but it does make you wonder.

Anyone else experiencing issues out of the ordinary?

2) I've had problems that you've mentioned since the first generation iPhone. I always advise my friends to send me emails in lieu of calls, text, or even leaving voicemails because there was a high probability of a delay or missing calls altogether. For example, there were many "tests" I'd run with my friends where they would call me while standing next to them. The phone would never ring despite having full service reception (tested both on EDGE and 3G) and voicemail and texts that would get sent would arrive late. I've had numerous SIM card replacements, phone replacements, credits issued to my account, but nothing solved my issue.

In terms of your friend, I've had these issues before, during, and after major OS updates and phone releases, so I wouldn't link the recent issues with the upcoming OS 4.0 / iPhone 4th generation releases in June.

No problems here. Still using the 1st gen iPhone.

DRice you may not be seeing the same issues as you are not using 3G, if its 1st gen

Sounds like an iPhone issue, I have a 3G phone on ATT and have not had any problems at all.

Not really an iPhone issue. I used to have these problems with AT&T as well. No iPhone either. Just a simple phone on their 3G network.

The 3G is for the data plan which I'm only experiencing slowness most of the time. The fact that phone calls don't come through are not related to 3G or Edge.

So you're telling me that at least 6 of us are either crazy or have crapped out phones? It's highly unlikely.

got a 3g iphone back in july and my buddy got one like octoberish. we were both noticing recently (like the past few weeks) that calls weren't showing up. we would actually call each other and the phone would ring for the person calling but it wouldn't show up as a missed call. i also had a problem where i was not getting some picture text messages.

i called at&t and had very nice woman try to help me even tho she had no idea what seh was doing. i went to the apple store and talked to an employee who said that HE actually had that problem sometimes too and that he has gotten the complaint from a few random other people. he said that most likely it's not the iphone and that is probably the service. it can be that the phone is rolling between 2 cell towers and that it causes the service to crap out periodically. my guess is that it's an at&t thing and i am hoping that it does get resolved.
