Default Running my home PC from work

If I leave my home PC turned on when I leave for work in the morning, is there some S/W that will let me run my home PC from a window on my work PC's desktop?

My company has a firewall, of course, but let's deal with that later (I don't want to transfer files in either direction, just have my work keyboard & mouse effect the home PC when I put the mouse cursor in this special window, and have my work keyboard & mouse effect the work PC when it's out of this window).

I'm looking for what can best be described as 'remote control' S/W (obviously need to set up a password of some sort at home).

yeah it's called tunneling and if you're trying to use it to circumvent your firewalls, that could be cause for immediate termination. Just a caution that needs to be said. What are you needing off of your home pc that you can't do on your work pc.

A co-worker of mine uses "Log Me In". I've also heard positive reviews of "Go To My PC". I believe either one will cost you $20/month.

Here's a list of other remote access software:

Check out VNC, but like someone else said: find out what the acceptable usage policy at work is before you use those resources for personal stuff

logmein is free. If you want to just remote control your system, logmein is the way to go.

Depending on what home router you have, you can setup VPN access into your home network, then use Windows Remote Desktop to access your PC.
And thats how you get ants!

I don't want to circumvent my company's firewalls, I want something that is compatible with it (TBD once I run this list of suggestions by the IT folks).

I want to be able to work on some home stuff while I wait for CAD tools to do their thing, and I wanted to avoid sending files back and forth via email, always worrying about which is the most up-to-date version.

Now that I think of it, maybe Google Docs is the way to go ('cept I'd be the only user w/ viewing & editing permission .... a group of one ..... as usual).

TeamViewer - Free Remote Access and Remote Desktop Sharing over the Internet is what i use. works perfect behind any firewalls.
