Samsung Galaxy S3

I just got a Galaxy S3 a day or two ago. Great screen resolution. Watching netflix on my lunchbreak, or 720p movies on the SD card are pheonominal. Pretty fast. Runs all games and apps without any lag. S-Voice works just as well as Siri for what I need it to do. Battery does not last long at all. Doubley so when running data intensive apps. I guess thats par for the course though. Camera is beautiful. The auto tag and share features in the camera settings are pretty nice.

It looks massive, feels comfortable and light, while I barely notice it in my pocket.

The Touchwiz interface seems a litte odd to me. The adding of widgets, and drilling down through some menus, has what seems like extra steps. At least compared to what I saw on the Nexus. Funny, I thought my Motorola Atrix with Gingerbread had the most intuitive and slick interface I've seen on a Droid.

I was excited to try Google Wallet with the NFC capabilities, but I guess Verizon and Google Wallet do not play nice. There's already a hack for a root access handset, but I belevie there is a security issue. So no Goole Wallet for now. Have not purchased any TecTiles. I'm thinking about what routines I can automate wih a few NFC tags. Alarm/Night clock mode tile under the nightstand? Meeting mode under the conference room table?

I just tried connecting via USB to my Ubuntu desktop, and could not mount the file system. Having a linux terminal and an android, I should be able to find a soulution, if the XDA/Ubuntu devlopers haven't already.

Overall, its a beautiful and powerful handset. I'm leaning towards root. Just so I can remove some Samsung and Verizon bloatware, install Google Wallet, and change up Touchwiz.

Does anyone have one yet? What do you think?

I bought my wife one for her birthday. So far she loves it and it pretty proficient with it after a month of use. My only complaint, and it's mine not hers as she really doesn't care, is i can beam a photo,song, app etc from her phone to my Galaxy Nexus, but i can't beam anything from my phone to hers. Called tech support and was told it has to do with S-beam being different then what i have on my Nexus. Pretty odd to put something on a phone that can only be used with another S3 but whatever. Battery life, like with all smartphones sucks, sure, but after some tweeking she gets about a day on a full charge.

The S3 is the best phone on the market that is carrier branded, right now.
TecTile suck take a look at the SONY Smart Tags FAR BETTER- TecTile small and flimsy and can only do 5 functions, Smart tags are solid and can do 6 functions. TecTile you program the tag Smart Tags you program the phone. With Smart Tags several users can use the same tags with complete different experiences. Take a look I can send you a Smart tag or two, you will be much happier with them

Its always all about the money

Battery life- Mophie just announced a mophie case for the S3- not ever sure they have publicly announced it. Well worth getting to double battery life- products --looking at their site it hasnt been announced yet BUT it is very close to coming to a store near you

I have had the Galaxy S2 for about a year now. I had a lot of issues with battery life to begin with, but installed Juice Defender, and it has really helped.

The biggest issue for me with my S3 (sprint) has been with the wireless antenna turning itself on at random times.

When I had my iphone, I would charge it overnight and set it on airplane mode so that I wouldn't get any alerts overnight. With my S3, I would turn my wifi off, set the phone to airplane mode then at random times while I was sleeping, the phone would turn the wifi on and start pulling emails and text messages while the phone service was still on airplane mode. Needless to say I got woken up quite a few times because of the phone. What I am doing now is just putting my phone on mute overnight until some update is released to fix this issue.

Aside from this little problem, the phone has been far better than my iphone 4s

Also there is a wireless charging pad coming soon that looks pretty bad ass.

Looka t the Smarty Tags or tecTiles you can turn it all on or off with a swipe. I set my night tag to turn off WiFi Bt data and ringer as well as launch my alarm.
While I get airplane mode should do the same like you say its not always 100%

Looking into why I could not connect/mount my S3 with Ubuntu Desktop, I found a quick workaround for transferring files...for the time being.

I downloaded FTP Server app on the Play Store. Works great for making my S3 a FTP server. Even lets me access root folders without rooting the phone. Pretty sweet. Swapping movies, pics, music, contacts, ect using FIlezilla on Ubuntu right to the S3.
