    Default Software question

I am looking for something with which my family can stay in touch with news and such, have the ability to create new entries, and the option to be on at the same time. Twitter is out as is facebook.
I guess something similar to a message board would be best but just not sure which one.

Free would be good but not entirely necessary.
Got some serious family stuff going on and this would be a great help.

    Thanks

If you want something for your phone Kik Messenger works great for group chat. If you need something for the computer...I got nothing

Have you looked into Path? It's similar to Facebook, and it's free. As is Google+

I was just going to mention google as well as skype.

Skype has the capabilities to be able to create a group and have group video chats in you own private room.

Google+ and Google Hangouts might do the trick for you if that isn't what you were talking about here.
