Sound bars vs. Surround system (Home theatre)

There isn't anything wrong with a soundbar. Especially for a bedroom. If this was for a living room or entertainment room then ya, maybe you could argue that a 5.1 or 7.1 surround system is better.

I live in a condo, and while my living room is large, i have vaulted ceilings(like 20 feet) and a surround system just wouldn't work. so i'm looking at HT-CT100 | Component Home Theater System HT-CT100 | Sony | SonyStyle USA. I can hook up my ps3 hdmi and my directv hdmi cables to this and simply run it to the TV.

I may look into something with a wireless sub, but really, for a room the size you're describing this is really all you need.

Except for the fact that it doesn't do surround sound and you would be far better off with just three front speakers.

Love my vizio soundbar with subwoofer. Run my turntable thru it too.

Yes but like i said, we're talking about for a bedroom.

I recently got a $200 Yamaha amp and some small Klipsch speakers for my office TV and this system SHREDS. The clarity of the systems with the small satellite speakers and the subwoofer blows away the sound we used to get in the old days. Even live shows are using this setup now.

No but it's small and really depends on how many walls you share. Putting up a 5.1 or even a 3.1 system in a room with 1 or 2 shared walls, could cause problems with neighbors.

just 'cause you have 5 speakers doesn't mean that you need to blast them.

if you're doing it right they don't.

those surround speakers are for surround sound and they don't require a lot of power for a reason.
