Get some wireless surround headphones. My Turtle Beach 7.1 headphones sound amazing with movies.

I wasn't talking about sound systems.

Sound bars are only worth their money if you get the upper end ones ($1000+). I did a lot of research on them when I built my dads theater room.

well if you still want to go the sound bar way, here's a little review

But, regardless of our personal preference, the Sony HT-CT350 is the winner of our sound bar roundup. The HT-CT350 strikes a good balance between a home theater receiver and speakers with plenty of connectivity and good audio quality.

Soundbars do not equal surround sound. Even if it is a small room a surround system with a sub-woofer will make your music and movies come alive especially if your system is Digital and Dolby certified.

If you are sharing walls with a roommate or neighbors make them get earplugs.
