Default Speaker Help-Polk Audio Monitor Series

Okay LGK audiophiles, I need some help here. When I bought my house last year the previous owner left a pair of pretty good looking Polk Audio Monitor Series 11t-07566. Now I had some questions about these:

    1) Are the worth keeping or should I sell them and get something like a polk surroundbar for the TV

    2) If I was to sell them what would be a fair price to offer?

    3) What do the last 5 numbers mean? Are those the serial number or do they mean something else?

keep them... they are old and sound very nice. personally, i don't think Polk makes quality loudspeakers like this anymore.

treat them with respect because replacing any part of them is likely going to be a real bitch.

    old speakers rock

don't get a soundbar unless you just can't stand the site of a surround sound system. if that's the case, then the soundbar will still still be a HUGE upgrade over tv speakers.

but on the soundbar, if the room is any bigger than 20 X 20, go with a 2.1 surround system. i'm not a fan of soundbars, especially in a decent size room. but they do sound better than the tv speakers.

yeah i'd say go for a 3.1 system. The center channel is soooooooooo important. Dialogue comes alive with the the center channel. A good 3.1 system will blow away any soundbar any day. You could keep your polk towers and then just buy a center channel and a subwoofer. I'm not familiar with those speakers in particular, but you might want to do a little research and see if you can get a center channel that's timbre matched (this most likely means getting a center channel made by polk).

    tr00f^

make sure that your receiver will match the speakers rms rating level as well, or else you'll be buying new ones very soon.
