I ask because I'm heavily considering ditching Verizon after eight years and going over to Sprint.

    Anyone's input would be appreciated
The best places to buy a cellphone are

Costco kiosks, run by Wireless Advocates- free case and charger and never an activation fee, always cheaper than Corpo.- Verizon ATT Tmo. some stand alone store carry TMo

Best Buy- Great pricing on handsets but accessories are ridiculously
overpriced ATT Verizon Sprint some stand alone store carry TMo.

Radio Shack. Also great prices accessories average priced reps not very knowledgeable but great prices- ATT Sprint Tmo.

Wal Mart Staff is bad but great prices Good luck getting any help in the connection center.

all are cheaper than Corp stores.

Yes. The instant rebates, and their insurance program seems better than Sprint's. Although I haven't had to use it, they claim that they will replace your phone for any reason other than water damage. And by water damage they mean completely submerged in water. It's $10 a month with no deductible.

is that really better than asurion though? 7 bucks a month and it covers lost/stolen too.

Is asurion what Sprint uses? I believe with Sprint you pay $50 deductible. I could be wrong, though.

Yep, that who they use but they charge different deductibles depending on the phone (I went back and checked the paperwork).

that is true but for me personally id rather have the theft\lost coverage as ive never broken a phone but ive lost 3. i guess its a trade-off

Has anyone had Sprint erroneously tell them their phone had water damage as an excuse? I have a Samsung Moment android phone that had the screen lock up. Went through the factory reset over the phone etc., still nothing.

I took it to the store as it should be under warranty. Their tech took it apart and told me there is a foreign substance on the circuit board and claimed it was water damage (looked like a small spec of haze, right in the middle). This phone has been nowhere near water nor has it ever been dropped. The water sensor tabs inside the phone had not changed color either. I had the manager suggest I used it in the rain or took it in the shower (Hah!). A customer support supervisor suggested I touched the screen with my cheek when talking or that moisture from my breath caused it. Silly, just silly.

The technician then entered these notes about water damage into my account. Now management won't even talk to me, they said it's up to the insurance carrier now and wanted to charge me $100 for a replacement, which of course I refused.

I've been through at least four supervisors and am now waiting for a tech call back from Samsung.

Anyone else been through this kind of run-around? What was the outcome?
Going back to your OP, was the store a Sprint owned store or a franchise? Here in the Valley I only go to the Sprint Store in Northridge or Encino, I've swapped out many a phone for problems at the store. I alway have insurance but never paid the deductable.
