Default Tell me the cons of this player.

I'm not a big DVDer so I figure it's better than my older model and it gives me the option for Blu-Rays.

I know the PS-3 is the model to get but I just wouldn't use it enough to justify the cost right now.

So is this better than my HDMI DVD player or should I pass?

that's supposed to be a decent player but it is on the older side. if you're looking for a low-cost blu ray player i'd check out the insignia blu ray player at best buy. normally i'm not a fan of in-house brands like insignia, but from what i've read this player is solid. as with most blu ray players, just make sure you update the firmware to avoid any problems with discs

Oh cool so they are both up-dateable? That was one of the things I figured a cheap one can't do.

yeah. some players have an ethernet port that you can update with (easier imo). others you just have to go to the manufacturer's website and download the firmware, burn an iso image to a dvd and pop it in. neither method is that difficult.

Suck it up and get the PS3. Go used and you can probably find a 40GB PS3 for $200.
And thats how you get ants!
