If you download anything from a file sharing website, be prepared to have deal with all kinds of viruses and spyware. And yes, mp3 files can contain viruses.
And thats how you get ants!
Haven't had any problem (knock on wood!)
Before you open any file you d/l from a filesharing program ALWAYS scan it first with Norton (yuckkkk!!!) or AVG (yeahhhh!!!).
Just right click on the file and you will see an option to "SCAN WITH AVG". AVG will scan the file and notify you if it contains any KNOWN virus.
Um, the law for one and maybe the music industry. (in no particular order)
So, if I own an album on cassette tape that I purchased 25 years ago, it's my right to locate a digital copy of that same album online and download it?
The sense of entitlement today amazes me.
HA Ha, and I'm only 27.

Then why buy vinyl? If you buy vinyl because you think the sound is more authentic or real then make a digital copy of it directly from your vinyl like it used to be done in the old days when copying from vinyl to cassettes. Your sound card or on board sound typically has a a 1/8" phono input to do this with.
