I got the 32 inch recommended in my LCD revisited thread a while back... except it was the next model number (LC-32D41U), which has since been discontinued. Apparently I got one of the last available.

I had to decide between the Aquos and the Bravia XBR, both 32 inch, I have a small place. Went with a Bravia for two reasons: one, I liked the way the Sony handled colors a little better. That's a subjective choice, as they are both excellent, but I simply liked the way blacks, especially, looked on the Sony. Second, I really liked the look of the Sony model over the Sharp. It was a flatter black/gray that didn't pick up the light as much and looked a bit more understated. The Aquos I was comparing it to had a shiny black bezel that really caught my eye and was distracting in a lit room. Really, that's what it came down to... personal preference and a case design. They're both great sets. Where are you thinking of picking it up, online or at a store?
How much would an HDMI cable improve the picture from my HD DVR than the RGB cables?
Keep calling and bugging them with threats to switch to Satellite and they should put you to the top of the list or get you a box right away. Ask for the closest office location to your house and say you want to pick one up ASAP. That's what I did before my Comcast switched to TW and "miraculously" the wait went from a month or two to a week.
The answer is... sadly, maybe... it will improve. It really all depends on the equipment and the cables, and if there is like three spots on that bird that just flew by your window or four. The improvement would be marginal at best, and some people even argue that with their setup component creates a better picture. Don't think analog means inferior. An awful lot of people spend and awful lot of money for analog equipment. Yes, in a true digital medium that shouldn't be a factor, but really I think your improvement would be small to nil.
And I only say the above because I saw basically no change when I went from component to HDMI.

Thanks for the info mutt. It might be worth the try for $6 from monoprice.com.
What's the max resolution you can get through the component video cables? Can you get 1080i? I know you won't get 1080p through them, but there aren't any boxes from my cable provider that spit out a 1080p signal yet.
Normally-priced DVD players that upconvert only do it to a max of 1080i as well. To get one that upconverts to 1080p means spending almost four times as much on the unit.
Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Bullets are cheap. Life is priceless.
FBJ, I just got my 52" recently via my work. (NBC/GE. It was a RIDICULOUS deal. $2650 before tax and shipping.) It's fantastic!
Keep an eye on Costco as they have a 46" that Sharp makes just for them. It's only online right now, but they'll be in the stores soon.
