What player are you talking about? Something four times the price of an HDMI-upconverting DVD Player puts it in the price range of HD-DVD and Blu-Ray.

Well, I just bought an HDMI upconverting DVD player at Best Buy (to replace an older one my daughter wrecked) for $90. It's an LG, and it will upconvert in both aspect-ratios to 1080i. The one I looked at that would upconvert to 1080p was a Samsung (I think) and cost $350.
As I said before, length may be the only time quality (premium, or what have you) comes into play with most HDMI cables. How long are you talking about here?
Read the review the guy posted for that cable. He details all the tests he did on it.
Also, they run out of those cables, then get them back in quickly. Take advantage of the notification option they have. I used it and got an email within a couple days telling me to come back and place my order. They deliver really fast too.
Anyway, I agree that the Bravia is a great tv, but for me the price played a big part in my choice.
I just did my buddies office and used monoprice cables. A 15 ft HDMI from the cable box to a wall plate. A 6 foot cable from that wall plate up to another wall plate behind the tv mount. A short HDMI cable from the wall plate to the TV.
3 different HDMI cables, 2 wall plates, and a perfect picture.
BTW the thread should just get stickied. The TV and cables question gets asked all the time in this forum.
Hey. Does anyone know where my AV cable thread went??
I've been looking for the damned thing for like fifteen minutes!!
Oh. Wait. Nevermind. Here it is.
