i do i do... but i gotta take some time off. i just bought a new television and Xbox 360, so i need to kick it for a bit.

i'm thinking of going small... VERY small. i used to roll an Outlaw with Gallos in my apartment, so i think i'm looking in that direction again.... the Model 990 looked good!

speaking of... Onkyo used to make a really nice HTIB. what ever happened to that thing?

and of topic slightly, has anyone seen that crazy ass B&W iPod Zeppelin thingie... i saw it at the Apple Store the other day and it cracked my s*** up!

Bowers and Wilkins in the ipod market.

$600 doesn't seem that bad for a BW. Hopefully, those people who buy that use the lossless codecs when ripping.

I would assume so, if they know who BW are.

of course, I am ripping mp3's are 192 or 224, depending on my mood. :)

Is it too early for me to already be a Yamaha "fanboy"?

Just checking before I go on an AVS style rampage on Denon, Onkyo, and Pioneer. They all SUCK!!!!!!!!! ;)

I kid, I kid.

Listening to the multi-channel Dark Side of the Moon SACD right now on the DVD-C961 over HDMI. Works like a charm. Multi-Channel PCM is coming into the receiver.

My 2008 upgrades may be done. :(

Now onto the figuring out the remotes, and what I can and can't do with my 880 vs. the Yamaha.

You know I got it over a year ago and I knew at that point it was going to be obsolete very quickly. The new Ref80 is coming out later this year and it adds HDMI and the DTS-Master and DD Pro audio formats. To be honest though I could care less about HDMI right now, TV doesn't have it.

But it sounds better than any receiver out there...

I'm on my 3rd Onkyo receiver. The current one is a Onkyo TX-DS939 THX.

Old but still works like a champ but when I moved I sold/gave away a bunch of my speakers so no dipole anymore to get the best out of the THX. I planned to upgrade after the move but other expenses have come up, you know how it is.

B&W 800 series is the future speaker plans and another Onkyo receiver.

B&W 800's, nice.

I don't think front speakers upgrades are in the plans for me until 2010 at the earliest. I have a pair of JBL LX55's from 1991, and just had them reedged at Orange County Speaker.

I think my next upgrade is the TV, if I can get away with it. We have a 52" JVC 720p D-ILA (LCoS), and it is a great TV. I just wonder when JVC is going to follow Sony and get out of the rear projection market. That may push up any possible repair costs. I have 2 bulbs to go through first (the new one I just installed, and the one Sears sent me when the first one was getting close to dead). Maybe I will use the Yamaha OSD ALL of the time.

Probably late next week. I am going to be plopped on my couch tomorrow watching the Charger game, then I have to get to the airport for my 3:20 flight to Dallas. Upon my return, I will be mounting my LC-2. Looks like I found a stud right behind the center of the TV, so I am mount the LC2 with a TV mount (tie it down), and get it flush with the TV. Then I will so some cable management, then pictures!!! :) Even with the SA-CD analog cables out, it is still a mess. I still have component running from the STB and Duo to to the TV, with the analog. There are times where I want to watch TV without the stereo, and I am sure there are times my wife may want to watch a movie w/o surround. Why I don't know, but whatever. I left that option open.

I, too, will be watching the game. (The early start time I'm not happy about though.)

Check this out for cable management. It's paintable, so it can really make life easier for plasma, LCD, or in your case, TV/speaker mounts to be cosmetically pleasing, without a huge hassle. Eventhough you'll have the TV blocking the cable run, it'll be slick as greased seagull poop if someone were to look behind the TV. :)

They come in textured or non-textured surfaces.
