Nevermind the cables, etc... Old and new are in there.

Good stuff, Carl. Thanks for putting up the pics. It just goes to show that even that folks the splurge a bit on their toys don't always have time make things all pretty. (Not at first anyway. If you ever want me to come over and clean up your wiring, let me know.)

I know it's a "fresh" installation, but have you found the center to be sitting back too far?

Well, I have been putting the new (as of today) UP5000 firmware to some tests today, so I have just finished POTC:AWE and Meet the Robinsons.

In normal listening positions, like 11' from the TV, no I haven't been able to tell. It doesn't appear as the sound is behind the TV. It is only noticeable if you are sitting on the floor in front of the TV.

I haven't run the YPAO yet, and I may not. I may just keep playing with the speaker settings.

My only other option was to get a TV mount and find a stud, and get the center flush with the TV. I didn't want to put that much into it.

So for now, I am done with the new setup.

Maybe in 2009, a new 55" new technology TV to mount under the speaker (only if a house is out of reach!).

edit - and as far as the wiring, maybe when the newness wears off, I will take the proper time to hide the wires (and put banana plugs on!). I have the plugs, just didn't want to take the time!!!! (or I'll just PM you!! , can you get over here by the 25th when my wife returns?! )

You don't really think cleaning up the wiring will save you now, do you?

Looks like a nice box. I have an older Yammi Rv-905, as well as the "giant-killer" Panny XR45 and a '70's Kenwood that'll blow away many of today's mid to low-high end receivers.

That said, I'm a firm believer in the theory that while there may be many reasons to choose one amp/receiver over another, once you get decent build quality no one can tell the differences between amps just by listening.

Consider the Theater Master remotes as well. My MX-500 will do almost everything the 880 will do at 1/2 the price. The MX-700, 900 series will do everything the 880 will do and then some. Customer service is great, too - just received a replacement MX-500 - sent it in for repairs because the "select" button died, and they replaced it with a brand new unit, even though it is out of warranty.

To be fair, I've had occasion to deal with Logitech customer service before on a keyboard/mouse issue, and they were awesome as well.

Just got an e-mail from 6ave.

They extended the coupon I used for my 3800. The coupon code is AFLYAM1098. Expires 2/7/08.

Not interested in Yamaha? Okay, how about Denon or Marantz at 25% off list?

    http://www.6ave.com/shop/1-18-08-audiotreasures.aspx

Coupon Code: AFLAU25 (my email says expires 2/7, but the page says 2/1)
