Verizon Wireless - Samsung Saga or HTC Touch Pro
Yes, it is that time in my long love affair with Verizon where I get to choose a new phone to replace my POS Palm Treo 700wx.
Last time I checked the stores, neither were in the Huntington Beach location at Circuit City or the VZW Store on Beach, so I turn to the group...
Does anyone out there own either one of these? If so, why did you choose it?
Yes, I am looking for a WinMo device. I understand that Verizon has throttled back the memory on the touch pro when you compare it to the AT&T (?) model.
No, I am not real interested in changing carriers, since I have had NO problems with Verizon at all. Palm, on the other hand..

IMO the top phones at VZW are the Storm and Touch Pro. Since you want a WinMo phone it has to be the Touch Pro. There might be something better on the horizon as I know there will be some announcements at CES from all the major players in the game.
We are making at least two and possibly a real big 3rd one, they may hold off until Barcelona in Feburary

no no I said BIG. iPhone is not a real phone for the techies of the cell world. It popular but very limited. Its a decent phone by there are several out there that are superior.

There will be a 32G iPhone announced first half this year, not sure when or where they'll announce it but that usually happens at the Apple conference, I think in January.

How long will these phones be publicly available after announcements at CES? I am about ready (well, I have been ready) to hurl my Treo into the Pacific.
And yes, I keep trying to find some rumors about next week.. but can't find any..

My wife likes her Voyager, and I have no problems with my enV2 (after my son dropped my original enV in the toilet). My friend who works for IBM just got the Storm and loves it

I'd check out the Samsung Omnia. Not sure when its coming out but from what i hear from my Verizon store on my route, its a pretty sick phone.

I was not impressed with the Storm. My brother is on his 3rd phone, and he babies his phones. That crappy "press in" screen gets loose after a few weeks.
SBU, hook a brother up with an SE phone! I'm getting rid of my iPhone and doing the phone/iPod Touch approach.

I did check it out at the VZW store, but IIRC the Omnia doesn't have a QWERTY keyboard, and I do like having actual keys I can fat finger.

I'm also looking for a new phone since my POS has a battery that lasts about as long as a 12 year old virgin...
I'm interested in a touch phone and have pretty much narrowed it down to:
1.) HTC/AT&T Fuze
2.) Apple iPhone
3.) LG Incite
I really don't want to go with an iPhone because I hate being one of the sheep that has to go with the trend. But I'm sure there are more apps available for it as well.
I also like the looks of the "Cube" interface for HTCs.
