Default Video Capture and an iMac

I know there's a few people on here that make video's and whatnot. What's everyone using to capture video to their Macs? I tried the EyeTV Hybrid but I am not impressed. I want to be able to capture better than choppy SD.

Because I didn't read the super fine print. The box says for HDTV and analog. Exactly what I want to record! Unfortunately I have satellite TV. Lesson learned.

I was just hoping someone had some experience in this and could give me a good recommendation.

I swear by the Hauppauge HD PVR.

Amazon.com: Hauppauge 1212 HD-PVR High Definition Personal Video Recorder: Electronics

It's a bit pricey at around $200 but it does exactly what it says it does. It's very easy to use but the software it comes with is a bit limited. Also be advised that the Mac software is published by a 3rd party and it has an additional price tag of $30.

I've never used EyeTV Hybrid but according to this review, it is compatible with a Satellite feed.

Elgato EyeTV Hybrid TV Tuner Review - Everything USB

Subscribers to satellite television and digital cable tiers will need to work a little harder in order to receive their encrypted channels on the EyeTV Hybrid USB TV. It's possible to connect a set top box to the tuner using the supplied breakout cable, but in order to automatically change channels it's necessary to purchase an IR Blaster that EyeTV knows how to interact with.
