Consider the fact that I went from Win2kPro and skipped XP altogether...

The thing I REALLY hate about Vista is that it has Alzheimer's... It doesn't remember your folder settings and you have to reset them every time you go in that folder... Too bad the UAC is that way too...that it doesn't even recognize you as an administrator... I had that shut off for that reason alone...and I trust about 99.5% of the downloads that go to it...

The media center isn't as good as it's cracked up to be either... the only thing about that is that it seems that the sound is muffled with every CD/DVD you put in it...even at full volume...BOTH in the center and the volume control of the surround sound system I have... If you have PowerDVD...this should get rid of that problem...if you use that exclusively for movies...

    But...as a whole I give Vista a 6/10...up about a point and a half from about a month ago

Im running XP64 at home and its running pretty nice. I was on Windows Server 2008 before that, and Ive seen enough Vista and XP to feel like Im qualified to say that Windows Server 2008 stripped down to a workstation is by far the nicest OS Ive ever used. There were some program compatibility issues, and if you have an obscure piece of hardware, you may have driver issues, but I would still stick it out with Server 2008. You can download it for free directly from Microsoft, reactivate it for 240 days before you would need to reload the OS, which you can do all over again. Its free, legal software and runs like a champ.
And thats how you get ants!
