    Default Vista Ultimate error 0x8007045D

I won a copy of this (P)OS operating system in a drawing and am now trying to get it installed on the computer... It's stopping after around 12% with the error mentioned in the thread title...

All the components on the computer I just built are LESS than three months old and I'm still having problems getting an operating system to stick... I might decide to wait a few weeks and just waste even more money on this computer to make sure that it's installed correctly...that is if I can't get it done by then...

Maybe I should just go back to Linux and try to remember what I still know about that OF from 1994...

Why do you want Vista? I installed it when it came out and I'm asking myself the same question still. It wouldn't even upgrade from Business to Ultimate, I kept getting errors until I just gave up.

Vista blows. I finally got mine stable after trying roughly 30 times to update with Service Pack 1.

I didn't WANT Vista...I wanted the main prize (a custom Harley)...but leave it to me to win the booby prize for entering that drawing...

I'm going to see if I can get my Win2000Pro disc back from the corps...

Looks like a bad disc/Possibly HD reaching its lifespan...My Vista Ultimate installed smooth and on my home made system. No problems....Just wondering did you run the updated MS Vista compatibility app first?

I was running Win2k before this but on a HD that died on me...never went to XP... The HD is fresh out of the box...and VISTA compatible...

I'll need a link to that app...and pray that works...

Wait a minute....how old is the computer that you are trying to install Vista on and what are the specs?
