Of course you can. There are tons of algorithims that can achieve a full-fidelity compression.

Here's a simple example:

You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives...You don't want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall. You need me on that wall.

So you can have full-fidelity compression, my example isn't very efficient, but it's certainly smaller than the original quote. Imagine what you could do if you applied proper mathematical algorithms AND massive computing power, you might be able to compress that speech to oblivion.

2. Wow...

I asked a question way bigger than I thought.

Anybody want to volunteer and walk me through and idiots guide to audio recording and formating?

Or know any good books or websites?
