Whatever you decide to get, pay the cashola and get 802.11N .

The Airport Extreme gets you lots of other nice tiddy bits that you may not be looking for now, but might want later.

Personally, I would run wire all over the place because you can't replace its reliability. Your neighbor may decide to get some fancy new phone that suddenly fubars your Wireless when they decide to talk to grandma on their porch for an hour and a half.
at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

Yeah, he got the Extreme. (And I agree with everything you said.)

Does the PS3 support 802.11n? If it only supports B/G, then you're wasting your money.

I'd wait on the Wireless N... its still in pre-draft stages... major manufacturers are building their routers on early N specs. The Wireless N draft isn't REALLY supposed to be completed until Nov 2008... but maybe not until June 2009

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless-N

Consequently, it tends to be a little more shakey, and not as solid as a G router or such.

We are trying to get the city wireless up, and N routers pose a problem with the protocol not talking to the repeaters or something like that... I have the meeting notes somewhere, but I can't find them right now. I'm not on the city wireless project, or I'd have more info.

I've had problems with Linksys stuff. When I got FIOS installed, they gave me a D-Link router and it had worked like a CHAMP. Highly recommended.
