Default Is it Youtube or me?

For the past few weeks, while checking out clips on youtube, I'll click on a link and it will redirect me somewhere else. At first, it only happened once in a while and I just assumed it was a bad link or whatever. But it's happening more frequently now and even last night, I tried five or six videos and they all did the same thing. I would get directed to a "local pages" site. I have also noticed whenever I open my email and bank website that the same thing happens, but with these, the new page opens in a new tab. I went a few months without my virus protection but renwed about two months ago. During it's scheduled scans, it occasionally picks up infections. Any suggestions.

Yeah, browser hijack. Those can be rough, but I've had luck in the past with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, and also Ad-Aware which Rinkrat linked above.

    Good luck.

I get a message saying it can't download and it needs to be done manually through windows, I went to the update section and it doesn't show up in there, do I need to put it in there for it to run it? How do I do that?

I have had similar weirdness w/ my Windows Vista system. I'm going to flush* it and go with Windows 7.
