I would quit had I not already paid... The fact that it's not done isn't my problem.. I could care less about that part of it. Take a look at my review of the place. The rinks being ridiculously small, and the joke of 3 min warm up and two 20min periods are my issues. I mean seriously we play hockey a 3 period game not college basketball. 2 , 20min periods is a joke. Those tiny rinks aren't worth $150 a season neither is cutting 7 min off my rink time (warmups and game time both) It's like playing on a miniature rink. So to answer your question I'd still be bitching about the same 2 MAJOR problems had the rink been completed... Because that is not my issue. And I don't buy the "well it's better then the old corona was" excuse, because that's irrelevant. I was used to playing at the best inline rink around, and now I have less than, FAR less than... I can say "my crap today smells better than my crap yesterday" but the bottom line is that it's still crap, one was worse than the other but they both stink. I have known Kenny for quite some time as I have played constantly at the old AHC for 8 years. He's a good guy and got put in a crappy position with the old building being sold. I have sent him a letter explaining my disapointment with the time and the rinks, I'm sure I'm not the only one. I went into this rink with a positive attitude, and was just extremely disapointed.. And not at the fact it wasn't finished yet, that actually didn't bother me at all (except for the roof leaking, which is gettting fixed and that's cool) I am likely going to play in irvine next time around, at least the rinks are bigger there and the amount of game time we get is right...
i can see your all of your points, and though Im not as clearly peeved as you are, I do understand your frustration. I too feel the game lengths are not worth the price paid (though I play for free so I dont scoff too loudly). Even though it is only 5 minutes less per game, it totally changes the feel and flow. Also, 5 minutes a game adds up so it would end up changing the schedule entirely to add that time back for every game. Im sure most people driving out from the OC wouldnt complain about the time difference if it changed back to 3-15's, but the squeaky wheels are always the ones that are heard, and there were enough squeaky wheels in OC complaining about time and traffic to Corona that management probably did what they thought would best satisfy people in that department and it's backfiring a little. (ooo run-on apologies) Damned if you do, Damned if you dont. As for rink size, I spent the off time from AHC playing in West Covina. Now THOSE are some small rinks, so I guess I dont feel the difference as much as you do.
Everyone just kinda has to take this season to decide whether the changes are worth it to you to continue playing there. For me it is, for you it clearly isnt. I guess Ive played roller long enough to have watched the trends and grieved enough rinks to be happy that this one is even functioning.
To each their own, que sera sera. DO your best to not absolutely dispise this season, then give my best to 949. :)
