Default Ankle Armor? Plastic boot covers?

All the talk about these things at the development camp has me curious. Where can you buy these things? Has anyone worn them? They seem like a bit of a no brainer for beer leagues. Thanks in advance

I saw them for sale at glacial gardens when we played there last month.
Had never heard of em before and thought they looked kinda funny, but then when we watched some of the rookies at TSC I noticed them on a handful of players.
^This post is completely idiotic, don't read it.^

They were popular with D-men in the NHL last year. Maybe even longer.

yeah, one of the guys on my team just took a nasty shot off the inside of his ankle, another actually bruised his heal, not sure these would have helped with that one but if they're affordable I'm going to find some.

I'm more worried about the side of my foot than the tongue, the ones at the development camp seemed to cover both.
Someone on rich's site recommended Shot Blockers - by Exterior Skate Protection - Home but they seem pricey and it's hard to tell.

Found it we are calling them the wrong thing.... the product is called Skate Fenders.

Interesting interview with the inventor. It is amazing that they just can't or won't make a better boot!

I wear them...I bought them from skatefenders.com (mentioned above). They have saved my foot a couple times. I don't notice them at all when I am skating; they're light and fit pretty snug to the boot. I think I paid $60 or $70 for them. You'd have to read the site to be sure, but the guy that makes Skate Fenders also provides the product to hockey teams local to them in Michigan. I first heard about them because a couple of the Wings d-men started with this same product a couple seasons ago.
