Default Best skates for the best price?

This is probably in here somewhere but I am too lazy to look so sorry.
I posted in here a while ago saying how I was gonna start playing and I have been going skating recently and just warming up to things. I think it is about time that I get some skates of my own however money is tight at the moment.
I was thinking about getting used skates but I want my own that my feet can form to and break so I am comfortable.
So can anyone on here point me in the direction of some cheap but good quality skates that I can rely on for a while?

    Thanks guys.

Oh and never do used skates...they're broken in with someone elses foot, plus with all the deals you can find it's not worth the foot fungus...

I've been happy with my one55's. Comfy after breaking them in. I don't know what to expect on protection, but they don't provide as much as I expected. Particularly on the tongue, I always manage to get stung there.

Go to your local hockey shop and try on some skates. All brands have different styles at various price ranges, and you can try on some and figure out what fits you best. I've been wearing Bauer skates for the last 20 years and I swear by them (just bought a new pair last month), but that doesn't mean the will be the right fit for you. Other people go with Eastons or Grafs, and I have found that they all do fit differently.

I disagree. I've skated with used skates for both roller and ice. I paid $25 for my rollers 6 years ago, and just now I'm buying a new pair. If you can find them and they fit well at a great price, get em.
I bought a pair of one55's at Hockey Giant for under $200. Ihave a buddy who has an online "shop" and he can get you a good deal. Pm me if you want his info

Every skate fits different for every person. First, find a brand that seems comfortable to you, then go from there.

I'm a big fan of Graf. They are more conscious of different foot types/shapes and making different boots for same ....

I wouldn't be against buying everything else used, but skates? No. I want 'em new and broken into my foot exclusively.

Also, I believe Graf will last you longer than some of these 'disposable' skates (SOTA Bauers & CCMs spring to mind) that shoot for the absolute lightest weight (at the expense of durability).
