If you get the 5030, make sure you get the Coffey curve.

Ok, thanks so much for all the info. One more question. Do I need to/should I wear the face mask on the helmet for stick time? Shoulder pads? Thanks!

You don't need to but it's not a bad idea. 1) for safety reasons and 2) to get used to your gear. How your gear feels in your living room and how it feels on the ice may be very different.

LA Kings Valley Ice Center in Panorama City has stick times 6:00am-7:30am everyday during the week. Either have the whole sheet of ice to yourself or only a couple other people. Great place to start learning, and the majority of the players there are really helpful if you ask for some pointers. Hope that helps!!!

I go to the morning stick time at Valley Ice Center at Panorama City and there's really not that many people. I've only started skating with gear since April and I've never done roller, so I'm pretty new to the sport. Sometimes I'm the only one there so I take advantage by working on my backward skating and pulling the net around the rink, helps with backward crossovers also. And like what nilswhite said, when there are other people there, they're totally cool and can give you some good pointers. I've played a couple times with the midnight hockey club and it's really fun, playing with them makes me want to get better every time. So if you ever go to the morning stick time and see a big filipino guy who can't stop, most likely that's me.

I was thinking of going to the Panorama City stick time tomorrow. Does anybody know if the 7:45-9:15 stick time is as empty as the 6:00 am - 7:15 one? Wondering if it's worth it to get up at 5 or not...

MrKing2U, the 600am-715am is usually more empty. There were a couple times I went there and I was by myself the whole time. I'm not sure which days are "busier", but there's usually enough room to do whatever you wanna work on. Valencia ice station has a ton of room and their stick time starts at 5am, and they don't kick you off the ice. I usually go there on friday mornings with my cousin, his name here on LGK is Lososaurus.

Well, I finally went to an afternoon stick time at TSC, and managed not to kill myself, or cause any major accidents. Thanks everyone for all the tips and advice. I think I will stick with TSC for now, as it is so close, and I know which local hospitals take my insurance.

How was it? I was thinking of going to a TSC stick time with MrKing2U but some dates don't really fit in my schedule and his.
