Anyone have any experience with ordering custom skates?
Always wanted a pair, and especially because I am on the tall side, I can't just pick a pair and they offer my size. Sort of like buying a car, I have to pick what fits, not what I want. The last pair I bought just don't fit right at all.
Someone said I could go down to HockeyMonkey and they would do all the sizing and so forth, just don't know how it all works and who might offer the service. I'm in the South Bay.

If you were to go custom I'd go to Jake but Bauer doesn't really do it anymore for retail, most recent ones I've read about have not come out great and take a long time even in summer. And or consider lightly used Pro Returns.
VH sounds like the way to go now a day. Also consider Easton Mako's.
Lightly used Mako's can be found on Ebay and other sites.
Here are a few links to look at,
VH Footwear - Ice Hockey Equipment - ModSquadHockey
Easton Mako Skates - Ice Hockey Equipment - ModSquadHockey
How to order custom Bauer skates - Ice Hockey Equipment - ModSquadHockey
Skim through them and go to the end for recent results.

I have purchased 3 pairs of custom skates. It is very hit or miss, depending on the person fitting you. First two pairs were a ****ing disaster.
My last pair fit like a glove, best $800 I have ever spent. This was years ago, not sure who, if anyone is still offering it. Bauer and Graf were the two that were offering it as of a couple years ago.
Pm me if you have any more questions. I can give you a referral to someone who is the best, but he is not local.
