You can also go visit Hans at the pro shop at the Culver City rink. Dude knows his stuff and has great prices. I swear by him and you don't have to drive through enemy territory (the OC).
Hans can come across as a bit intimidating.
I agree with IanMonsta about the lack of variety, but he does a heck of a job of getting you exactly what you need. I don't think he's intimidating either, he's just an old German man. I'm going back to buy the rest of my gear in a couple of weeks... Hans FTW!!!
i used mission and gear all my life in roller
so i tried mission ice and i hated them
then i get nike's used and hated them
so i went to hockey giant and tried on a bunch of skates and i ended up liking the easton's the best
but i have a wide foot
they are very comfortable though
Well, since he has little selection, you'll never know what you need. How are you going to try on skates he doesn't have? When selecting skates, you need to find the best skates for your foot, not the best skates for your foot which are in the shop.
And whatever you do, for the love of God, do not let him sharpen your skates. His skate sharpening has been legendary for its, umm, creativity, for at least two decades.
